I WANNA TAKE YOU HIGHER ! To the HighLine, that is!

YES, I DO!  So get yourself to the HIGHLINE - 10th Ave & 16th Street & be prepared for some wonderful surprises.  From 16th street proceed north.  The new section, 20th street to 30th street, just opened 2 weeks ago & in many ways surpasses the original.  URBAN GRIT MEETS PASTORAL FOLLY :)  all combined seamlessly, magically.  Nature as shown in the plantings - wild, yet exotic varieties- yellows, lavenders, ivories, many reds and oranges.  As for the man made dare I use the word varied "textures" abound.  Steel both silver & rusted, carved & sculpted wood, running-water-sidewalks / green green grass- - imaginative and unexpected vignettes unfold before you every two blocks.  Proceeding north & ending at 30th Street you reach a raw chain link fence, an abrupt end.  But you know there will be more; to 40th Street we hope!
INTERIOR DESIGNERS take heed: Color, Pattern & Asymmetry are all here for fresh inspiration.

Art & Designed Interiors!

This season I just can't seem to get enough of multi - color.  It must be fueled by the tropical fruits and Italian ices all around.  Again- - - this week see this beautiful composition by a young contemporary artist.  At HIDDEN PICTURES 764 Madision Avenue is a small yet stunning collection featuring emerging artists aged 21-31.  Any one of the works could not only be hung in a room; it could also serve as a basic inspiration for an INTERIOR.  These colors, lines and atmospheres would make great starting places for any imaginative DECORATOR !

KANDINSKY KAN DO *** your home palette!

As Part Two to last week's MOMA entry....Color, it seems, is being rediscovered.  Look at this mix-meister's compostion. COLORS WITH COLORS YOU WOULDN'T EXPECT!  The unlikely muses for inspiration harken to FRESH PRODUCE - -Eggplant, Peppers, Watermelon.   Any one of them beautiful!  2 together - - -Great!  3 together - - -can truly be an Artful Mix.  Coincidence how today's AM New York newspaper featured "Color Blocking" on the runways.  These colors could well have been from Kandinsky's "Landscape with Factory Chimney" circa 1910, pictured here.  What's old is new again!

These days the colors used in INTERIOR DESIGN no longer trail those used in CLOTHING DESIGN.  Thanks to media & communication they are running in tandem.
